Icons are everywhere!

An icon is someone who makes an effort. Art makes an effort. Therefore art is an icon. Marilyn Monroe was and is an icon and a work of art as well. Hence Marilyn Monroe and art have a nature in common. Icon - Art - Marilyn is iconic.

The MTV VMA's - "Try too hard" meets "forgettable" and a few good moments.

Well, well there were the MTV VMAs and I have to say the motto must have been: "Try too hard!", "Awkward and ashamed!" and "Some great performances." And well it was so awkward!

Okay guys the performance of Gaga was off the hook. It was amazing since it incorporated all her previous styles. And her stage was "amaza-bells". But one critique point would be her voice. It was a little off. But still the best performance of the night. How did her wigs stay on, and has she become some sort of magician that that last wig fitted so perfectly? WTF? I guess there were like 5 people behind that huge white prop to get that wig on in 5 seconds. And her figure in that slim down bod and seashell bikini. Wooop Woop! And the best is her defending One Direction after they get booed for winning the VMA for Best Summer Song. That is classy. I mean, she just stood up and left. Oh and that pink cup she drank from? WTF? That was a swine nose. Perez Hilton bash much? Oh yes Gurrl! And her look on the red carpet? Gorgeous, except for that bow, and you can see that the lace from her wig was glued on bad. Could have been better. But basically she was the show-stealer.

Well lets come to the worst of the night. I love my post-Disney Miley, and I have pre-ordered Bangerz yesterday, but that performance of her was just bad. All the teddy bears, the outfit, and her red carpet outfit as well, her dancing and her tongue sticking out. Oh my god. Miley, there is a difference between sexy-ugly/fashionable-ugly and ugly-ugly. And yes: It is appropriate to use the word skank here. And the twerking  she gave: Well we know she likes it but she is not the twerk queen. And that half lap dance with super awkward, and not very feminist, Robin Thicke during his performance of his, silly and women degrading, song Blurred Lines really threw me off. Miley, get some glasses if the lines are blurred for you. But this time you crossed the line!

What I really loved was the pro LGBT tone the show had. With Macklemore giving his performance of Same Love I was more then satisfied. Actually it gave me chills to see it and made me proud of being a member of the LGBT IQA community. But his gestures were so damn of. And I really loved that Jennifer Hudson joined them on stage, even though she looked like Alisha Keys.

When it comes to Katy Perry I was so disappointed. Her leo print dress: ugly. Her grillz: ugly and a joke at her expense. Her hair: the only thing not totally ridiculous. Her performance of Roar: forgettable and boring. But she sang kinda good, so I will give it a mediocre, and send it along its way. And by the way: the Brooklyn bridge thing did not do it for me, even the people there seemed bored. #SorryBoutIt, we know Kathy can do better.

This years fashion was a mixture of "Oh my god, how ugly" and very stylish, classic dresses. Best dressed would be split between Rita Ora, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez in that marvellous atelier Versace and Ciara. Ugly as fuck definitely goes to Miley's outfit and worst dressed also goes to the Smith kids, damn: get a stylist, and I was not a fan of the way Taylor Swift's hair missed a piece to cover a bit of her forehead. But whatever. The whole award show wont be legendary, and that is a shame since it was the shows 30th anniversary!  And the other performance there uhm.. Kanye: forgettable. Were there any others? Oh yes the Justin  and NSYNC. Too much. Also the video of the year thing for him: Not so much. But he kinda still deserves it. All I had eyes fro was Lance Bass.

Oh and yes, there were people winning awards, so lets see if my predictions that I made earlier were right: For video of the year I said Macklemore, but it went to JT. I can live with that. That Macklemore won best hip hop is so okay with me, in fact I could not be happier, but i guessed ASAP or Kendrick to take it. Best male went to Bruno Mars, I did not see that coming, but I don't care since no one really cares. Best female went to Taylor Swift. Don't like that CeeUNextTuesday. (Even though her dress was great.) Expected P!nk to win. Best Pop video went to Selena, Im okay with that, especially after that Miley performance. Artist to watch was taken by Austin Mahone. Fuck that lil Bieber 2.0, his music is shitty cheap crap. Iggy Azealia should have taken this one home! Best collaboration went to P!nk , an well this one I guessed right. And best video with a social message went, as I predicted, to Macklemore.

Liz and Dick & Why Lindsay Lohan might as well be our generations Elizabeth Taylor

Okay calm down you people out there who already start to bitch and moan about my Lindsay and Liz comment. Read first and then bitch and moan about me and tweet me @s4mlkueh! So this time "I watch it, so should you!" gets against all critics opinions.

Poster belongs to Lifetime.
I don't get these harsh and bad reviews Liz and Dick has gotten by the critics. Like Kathy Griffin I just absolutely loved the movie, and I loved Lindsay Lohan in it. Basically it is theatrical, overproduced, over pointed and dull at the same moment. It just is like our generation. Our generation is just used to such stuff. What we want is exactly that stuff: a sweet and tender story with a sad background motive that swings behind everything with an ocean of excess and lavishness surrounding it. I mean, why do you think Lana Del Rey is so successful?

What makes the movie for my generation interesting is that it comes at such a lavish beauty that still is even topped with theatrical lines. The movie and its production is basically so over the top that it is like one of these old Hollywood glamour movies, where everyone knows that it is so glamorous that it is constructed, fake and bought on money rolling all over. The best lines of the movie basically come from Elizabeth.

When they are in the trailer oat the beginning of the movie Elizabeth and Richard fight and Elizabeth tells Richard: "I don't hate you, I loathe you!" - I mean, what is not to absolutely love about that damn line? Also when Liz is at her home in Switzerland before they marry, she just sits outside all done up and lights a smoke. She takes a sip and screams out loud: "I'm bored!" - Well! That must have been the most perfect line to express the dullness of life. I mean Hollywood can have that thing to bore the shit out of you with its fake perfectness and materialism. Our "faky" Hollywood version of Waiting for Godot. I know high jump but it kind of is! Oh and the favorite scene basically is when Liz smashes a bottle of Vodka on the wall, in one of the plenty vicious fights they have! And how I love these fights, because they show how unstable and childish they must be, well at least how we perceive them today. And the line that defines the movie and what basically sums up the crux of the movie is Liz in bed saying to Richard, when he rushes to his wife to divorce: "Hurry back! I want more! - And more seems to be what defines Liz.

Picture belongs to Lifetime.
What I absolutely love about all this is the diva-is attitude I get from all this. And that is what I like.. All the wild and unreasonable excess and the not super empathic acting of the characters. That is what we want to see. We want to see downfall and decay. And that is what Liz and Dick gives us.

And when it comes to Lohan as our generations Liz is that we do remember Liz only as the brilliant actress in Cleopatra, the excess and wild love life and her great charity work. Do not get me wrong, I absolutely love and adore Liz, but for us she is the embodiment of old Hollywood and excess. And that what Lohan gives us. The glam life, the talent (Because she has lots of talent.) and the full excess and scandal. We get beauty and decay, talent and its fall and love and fight. And that is what we want and what we were grown up with. What Taylor is for us is a symbol. And our incarnation of that symbol is Lindsay Lohan, if you like it or not! ;)

And the set, the jewels, the clothing and the drinking, the smoking and the juwellery. Madly in love with it. And best: Lohans voice. How can you not love that smoky voice? And really, shit to those who say i do Liz injustice with this. I don't. Wonder what women Liz has been compared to and many were not okay with it.

basically the movie is like a huge extremely sad and happy but dull, like narcotic, suicide note we all can imagine but never want to write or read.  It is full of hot passion and love we want and desire but we really are upset from. A sad but brilliant movie, swimming in an ocean of excess. What is not to love about it. I have already watched it for the 12th time.

"I watch it, so should you!" - True Blood season finale and the thing with Sookie's precious fairy vagina

It already is over: True Blood Season 6. It came fast and it left as fast as it came. So let me recap the tenth and final episode "radioactive" for you and tell you why we should be excited for season seven. And you wont be disappointed from the tenth episode either because the promotion has been true: we see more of Eric then ever. Literally!

Episode 10 of this season starts off with Sookie starring at Terry's grave being filled and Sookie and Alcide have a talk about her funeral talk about being a fae. And already we can tell that, as Pam put it, "Sookies precious fairy vagina" is certainly no turn down for Alcide. Then they see the vampires coming back from camp and celebrating their newly gained freedom. Sookie goes there and meets Jason and is more than happy to. When Jasons vamp girlfriend Violet starts romping about who Sookie is Jason clears up the situation, teling that they are siblings. Violet then kisses Sookie on the mouth just saying: "If you are his sister, you'r mine too!". Jason comments: "She's European." best fucking sentence ever to be said in such surrounding! Then the true WTF moment happens: Pam runs up to Sookie and HUGS her! I mean when have we ever seen Pam hug someone else than Eric or Tara? I mean it is Pam. Also Tara hugs her and says that since Bill has saved them she won't be able to hate on him ever again.

Sookie then returns to Warlow who already has built their wedding flower-pole-thing-maypole. And Sookie tells him that she wants to keep her promises but she wants him to spend time with him first, instead of beeing turned instantly. And Warlow makes a 180 degrees character turn, an tells Sookie to basically fuck off ad that she is his. Well: REALLY? I started to like this fucker and he goes the other way round. Oh and by the way: he strangles her. Back at Bills the vamps play volleyball. And my face was just like: WTF! Volleyball, are you serious guys? But then Tara goes to see Pam and Pam tells her that she leaves to search for Eric, and even though Tara is pissed at her Pam does have a hard time to leave her. She looks at her and asks her to take care of Willa.

Inside his house Bill learns that he has lost his divine powers, although he still can walk the light. He realizes that he is Bill and not Lillith anymore and that he basically just sold Sookie off. Jessica tells him that he still can save her, she really saves his last part humanity. Im so glad that Jessica exists! They tell Jason and he and Violet go to the Bellfleur house to ask the remaining fae to come with them and use her light to get to the fae realm. They succeed even though its hard, but the fae girl wants to help. Meanwhile Bill releases Dr. Takahashi, glamours him and leaves him lots of money!

In the fae realm Warlow has bound Sookie to the pole, and she try to kill him with her vamp killing ball, but he stops her, also bounds her hands to the pole. He tells her, he just wants to fuck, own and use her for her blood. He also calls her a danger whore. Wow. if that is not a bad romance! Meanwhile our Sookie save group enters the realm. Bill, Violet, Jason, Andy and the fae girl enter the realm and free Sookie. They save Sookie and as they escape Bill stays in the realm and fights Warlow. They both leave later through Warlows light. When Warlow tries to get Sookie in her house he fights down Jason, Andy and Violet (Who by the way is 800 years old.) But when he nearly has her in the bathroom Niall comes out of the portal and holds him. Then Jasosn stacks Warlow, and Niall comes back to the normal world. As Warlow is dead all Vamps that have drunken Bill's blood feel that they have lost the ability to walk in the sun. Poor Eric is sitting naked in the swedish mountains sunning in the snow and reading the book when he starts to burn off. BUT: We don not see him splash, so he probably is not dead. But what we see is his dick, and I am sure Alexander Skarsgards dick is or on every gay porn site possible. And I can not say it is not withut reason.

SIX MONTHS LATER....

Sookie watches Bill in a TV interview talking about the story of season 6 as the author of a book about it.  What i hate about it: Sookie is together with Alcide. Her precious fairy vagina! Dammit! Then we see Jason giving head to Violet, as he says he has done so each day since the camp thing, but he still is not allowed to fuck her. Well too bad for you Jason! In a church scene we see both churches of Bon Temps, black and white, together where Sam, the new mayor announces that this evening the "Bellfleur's Bar and Grill" , now owned by Arlene, ffers free food and drink, to find a hep-v free vamp there they can feed and he protects them from the wild attacking hep-v vampires. Some people leave church...

At the party all get together and Taras mom talks to her and wants her daughter to feed of her. And after some hard thinking she does. I just think that bitch is infected and wants to kill her daughter! Do not trust that church cunt! And also it seems that Willa is fine and she would not be that fine if Eric was dead and Tara would not be fine if Pam was dead. Meanwhile jessica goes to the Bellfleur home and offers them their protection but without wanting to feed on them. She tries to redeem herself. As Sookie and Alcide want to go home, Bill offeres them his protection and right as Alcide and Bill start to get bitchy Alcide and Bill smell something: A group of gone wild hep-v vampires starts to come to the party. And they get more and more. Well, I guess that is our cliffhanger for season seven. And damn that is a cliffhanger. Now we can start to tweet #WaitingSucks once more. See you next year Bon Temps.

What I liked was that Pam goes after Eric and that Violet situation for Jason. What I hated: Sookie and Alcide together. What I was shocked by: Warlows 180 turn and Bill relizing his feelings for Sookie. Did I love the finale? Yeas! But it was very unexpected an twisted. And I would have loved to see that Bill - Lillith - Warlow thing played off better. I mean we are talking vampire gods here! But I was kind of ... well not turned down by Eric and his "I Love my Schlong thing". And I cant wait to see what happens to Pam, because for me it is the worst waiting to see what happens to her. Well I guess I just have to wait. ......FUCK! I HATE WAITING! Hurry up HBO! ;)

"Music Minute" - Applause for the APPLAUSE VIDEO by Lady Gaga

Today has been the day that the reigning queen of pop, Lady Gaga, has released the music video for her first single off her third studio album ARTPOP. The single Applause was released early last week due to hackers and leaks, and has since been compared to Katy Perry's "Roar". But when Gaga entered Times Square in a black convertible with red leather seats to go onto Good Morning America it was clear that at this day Katy perry would play no role.

When Gaga entered the studio she wore a stunning white dress, short brown or brunette hair and metallic high heel boots. In an interview before the music video premier she declared that the video will feature many images of her, all versions of herself. She also stated that the video was paying homage to her obsession with transforming herself. The video is a mixture of Tim Burton meets Alice in Wonderland meets Circus meets vampires and angels meets fashion and disco. Tons of outfits, flashing lights and a dance routine that seeks out for competition. An absolute complex, stunning and amazing pop music video that says one thing: art. It really is a video about obsession, rage, love, dance and art in combination with pop. A true iconographic piece that will go down in music history, at least it should! But don't believe just me, go an check out my arguments below!

*Copyright mention: I do not own any of the pictures on display here. Just used for entertainment purpose. All pictures are courtesy of Interscope Records.*

For those of you who haven't seen the video yet, and can not watch it on Youtube due to Vevo, just head over to Ampya and watch it there! So I think we should get right to it, and analyze it in every frame! Lets dive in:

I absolutely love the writing! Can not wait to see more of it. What we can see of the scenery just gives me the chills. Very central, very power oriented and absolutely Metropolis meets horror. The stage is like a circus arena curtain that opens. I love it to death!

Gaga mattress. And her body is banging! I mean seriously there hasn't been anything that hot since the last supernova! Her shoes are a high-heeled killer boot that makes my hear for fashion go pitter-patter.

Gaga on a podium, with wings. Wait wings? Yes! Wings! And for me they look like the wings of death. She is flying over the podium and giving me further reasons to fangurrl!

Academia - "Lady Gaga: The Mother Monster Identity - Deconstructing a Pop Star"

Right now I am working on an essay for the university titled: "Lady Gaga: The Mother Monster Identity - Deconstructing a Pop Star", and I have seen some amazing ARTPOP and APPLAUSE promotion done by some monsters. And I was really blown away by a video I found on twitter.

@BadKid_Earthfan and @Whisk3y_M0uth made a video where the talked to strangers about APPLAUSE and ARTPOP and also had the brilliant idea to relabel soup cans ins supermarket as APPLAUSE CAMPBELL. Check it out below! I will definitely use that as an example in my essay. So just wait for the 27th of august for my essay and follow them on twitter. And don't forget to watch their video!

"Music Minute" - What unites "Tinker Bell" and Lady Gaga? - Lets have a look!

We all know the story of Disney's "Peter Pan". And we all know that Captain Hook is a pretty much a fucked up character, Peter Pan is crazy (Because I don't want to bee a teenager forever. I mean: you can't decide for yourself!) and that Tinker Bell is much more a symbol than such a sweet sweet little thing...

Picture from Lady Gaga's Twitter account.
Because Tinker Bell is a symbol for the power of believe and an innocent, or sometimes naive, nature. Thing is that his cute little fairy just can survive if she is believed in. When people stop believing in her, in magic and in possibilities she fades away. See the relation to an artist? An artist, might it be an art artist, a musician, a performer or whatever just exists when he or she is known. An artist thereby can be related to a stage character, and basically displays the question of wether something is there if we do not see it.

So where we can match Lady Gaga and Tinker Belle is that question: And we can answer it with her stellar performance in her tour DVD: "Lady Gaga presents: The Monster Ball Tour from Madison Square Garden". In there Gaga basically says: "You know, I am kind of like Tinker Bell, You know Tinker Bell? You know how she dies if you don't clap for her. Do you want me to die? Scream for me!"(By the way, check out the  video of Gaga saying that below!) I think we got our hint, don't we? An artist just can exist if her or she is believed in. And what better way to be believed in then by screaming, clapping and applauding fans?

Get the second clue? Applauding fans? Lady Gaga releasing Applause?  I mean her latest single basically is the prove that Gaga knows about the rendering of all that. Smart one, isn't she? She sings: "I live for the Applause! Live for the way that you cheer and scream for me." Yes, she does live for the applause. But the applause needs her as well. She needs the applause to be cherished and exist, and the applause needs her, or better said the fans need her to cheer on someone. Uhlala!

And you know what? Tinker Bell does not only serve as a symbol, but also for a reminder for us. A reminder that the concept of pulp, of low brow culture as high art culture, of pop art as important and valuable. And we are ensured as well through the lyrics of "Applause": "One second I am a Koons fan, suddenly the Koons is me. Pop culture was in art, now art is in  pop culture, is in me." What is described by that? Well that pop culture is art art is pop culture and the exchange of both in Lady Gaga is ARTPOP. What a great reminder that popular culture is more then what meets the eye. And well.. isn't that a reminder of camp? Basically Gaga ironizes, and parodies the innocent notion of Disney and reminds us of the nature of the artist: constructed by attention.

And Gurrl! Gaga is feeding the pop machinery! We got the video coming up on monday, the V-Magazine September issue with 4 covers and different photo stories, the album coming up, a short video "Lady Gaga is  over!" (Which I will talk about, when I give you the full range on Marina Abramovic.) and a VMA performance. I guess the "Applause" singer probably will be pretty much existent with all this cheering, screaming and applause. Tinker Bell will live on, for sure!

APPLAUSE OUT TODAY

Picture from Gaga's twitter!

Today has marked a sad and genius day for little monsters and music lovers from all over the world. There have been extremely many leaks of snippets of "Applause" by Lady Gaga on the web, and today is the day Katy Perry's "Roar" has been released. And to stop all that leaking madness Gaga has taken her twitter and released "Applause" today!

Sorry Katy that Gaga stole all your thunder! Your song also is a good pop song, which I wanted to review today but now I will have to give Gaga the first and give "Roar" a shout out some other day!

Gaga announced the early release "Applause" on Twitter to be faster then these damn hackers! And man, was I mad at first! We could have also waited 7 more days, but apparently not. Good thing we still have the video coming out on the 19th! Lets get straight to the song now: It is a new Gaga, it is a new sound. The song basically is very clear, it is very disco, it is very 90's and very electronic but still radio friendly. It is very much how I expected it to be. It is less of a "rock-electro-pop" thing but rather an "electronic-disco-pop" sound.

Topic wise it is about the artist, that would be Lady Gaga in this case, lives for the applause, the appreciation of the fans. When she starts the song she sings that she waits for the fans to crash the critics. Very much Warhol! This song definitely befits the message of ARTPOP!  Then the song brilliantly goes on to say: "I overheared your theory, nostalgia's for geeks. I guess Sir, if you say so, some of us just like to read." What a great smash into the direction of research in art and referencing basically this could be Gaga's version o saying: "Go and pick up a book!" Directly afterwards she adds: "One second I'm a Koons fan (Jeff Koons, the pop artist), suddenly the Koons is me." Well that is actually true. Jeff Koons reproduces everyday products in glamorous ways and makes them icons. See the connection to Gaga?

I could go on, and fangurrl till you all fall dead, but that is basically the best pieces of the song. So just go and buy it and listen! Oh and the picture Gaga released along the release is amazing! Check it out above!

"I Love Art!" - Sweeten the Wait No.2

Day two of my "Sweeten the Wait" countdown to Lady Gaga's single Applause. WIth todays back and forth about a leak or not and all the emotions I just hope you can enjoy these two! So I could not decider which one I liked best so you get both!

(Gay) Marriage: One Man(Woman) and One (Man)Woman. - As if! I highly doubt it!

Hey you guys out there! I want to take on a serious thing this time and show you why it is important to fight for LGBT IQA rights and gay marriage! I have brought you this video called "Mariage = Biology (Not Bigotry)" by the Nation for Marriage account on YouTube. And I will go along and analyze the messages they send out in the video.

At first I want to announce that this is not a hate post and not a defamation post. I respect everyones believes, but I have a strong believe in constructive criticism and in the separation of religion and law.

At first, go ahead and watch the video, since my analysis will be easier to read and understand if you have seen the video!

  • I will get right into it and give answer to the central question of the video: "Should marriage be limited to one man and one woman?" - No, it should not. It should be open to any two humans in love!
  • The next question given by the video is: "Why does the government promote marriage between one man and one woman?" - Actually I don't think they promote marriage? Its not like I have ever seen a poster that says: "Hey! Get Married!"
  • The video states that "Natural Marriage" (Which I will refer to as NM in this post) is for the perpetuation and stabilization of our society. - Well, I disagree. Personally marriage is about love and about taxes. A society could also live without a paper that says you are married.
  • The video continues with the reasoning of their argument in the biological nature. - Well, I get that men and women can have children together. Fine with me, but homosexuality is also natural, why would it exist if its not natural? You can not become gay. You either are or not. If you don't believe me, try to go gay! Good luck with it! If you succeed tweet me @s4mlkueh!
  • The next question in the video is:  "Has the time come to expand our definition of marriage?" - Uhm hell yes! It is not only time, it is long overdue. It is so overdue that I don't want to pay the late charges!  Its do overdue its shaming!
  • Then the video comes to what a government can do in regard of its citizens behavior. They can either promote (I have never seen a government promoting something, but okay I will roll with this one for simplicity!), permit or prohibit it. Well that is fine with me. The video say the government promotes police work since it benefits society and prohibits drug dealing since it harms society. Up to here I'm A-OK with that.
  • Then they go right in and say that the government promotes NM. - When? Where? Why? You mean they allow it! Also let me tell you that the word natural is the biggest misconception since there is no natural. Natural means that it concurs to an original. And there is no proven original to anything. So no original, means no normal. So your argumentation lacks a bit. But okay lets move on!
  • They say that the government prohibits pedophelia and incest since it harms society. - Well once more I'm A-OK with that argumentation.
  • The video then wants to explain why NM benefits our society:
    • 1. It creates children. - You don't need to be married for that. Use your no-no place with the no-no place of someone the opposite gender and your good to go. Marriage has not really that much to do with the fact.
    • 2. It best raises children. - That is questionable. Set apart from the parents that mistreat their children and the abandoned children, there are many studies proving that same sex couples can do as well as heterosexual couples. And marriage has nothing to do with raising children. You don't have to be married to raise children right. And what about single parents? Don't try to make it about the (possible) children, make it about the people who want to get married, okay?
    • 3. Marriage protects woman. - Excueeze me? You underline that with the following, and I quote: [Women] often give up or postpone their careers to have children from being abandoned and harmed economically by uncommitted men." WTF? There are some words missing. What you maybe want to say is that women often postpone and  or abandon their career to have children and protect them from men? Whatever you wanted to say does (A) not protect women at all, and (B) stop making that all about the children! How would twp men or women marry affect children of two heteros? Goddammit! What you promote is highly anti women and anti feminism!

"I Love Art" - Lady Gaga, the beauty that deconstructs beauty, using camp.

Monsters, it is only eight days until APPLAUSE from ARTPOP is released. Meanwhile I will continue to sweeten the wait with drawings of Gaga. And isn't she just a beauty? But...

... did you know that Gaga, as our generations pop diva, makes extensive use of the performative class of camp? What you don't know what camp is? Well basically camp is the celebration of passionate failures, it is aesthetics over content which makes camp the perfect thing to criticize the dominant discourse by appearing as a form of it. But basically camp is a masqueraded way of criticizing through the use of irony, parody, aesthetics and theatricality. If you still don't have a glimpse at what camp is, you should really read about it. Probably the best would be to start with Susan Sonntag's essay "Notes on Camp". But listen up: she leaves out camp as a political thing... Alright, that brings me to the following: I have to fucking write about camp.. but in another post! Just enjoy the picture! XOXO

"I Love Art" - While we wait for ARTPOP, I will sweeten the wait!

Well we all wait for ARTPOP and I have done some drawing lately to sweeten the wait, so lets get to it, shall we?

And what do we see here? Gaga giving us face, and may I say: she is very good at it!

"I Love Art" - Marina Abramovic featuring Lady Gaga in "The Abramovic Method"

Hey there! Like you know I love me some good, great, iconic and interesting art. And that includes performing arts as well as the creating arts. And who is one of the biggest names n performing arts? Marina Abramovic. And she is about to start up the "Marina Abramovic Institute" and got a lil promo help from the one and only Lady Gaga.

Picture by Christian Grömer, used under creative common rights.

Marina Abramovic is now 60 years old and still looks like 40. Yes I know that is not the most important to mention at first when you write about such a great contemporary artist, but look at her! She is gorgeous! But now back to the real thing: her art! Abramovic is one of the most discussed, controversial and devoted performance artists ever. Her oeuvre is a wide range of border experiences of the body, very often linked with risk for her life and safety. Her biggest project jet was a retro perspective of her work in the MOMA in 2010. there she instructed others to redo her old performances. And she managed to sit still on a chair each day of the exhibition. This performance run under the name of "The Artist is present". the preparation for the exhibition was captured in the documentation film: "Marina Abramovic - The Artist is present".

Her work is very often a reminder for the presence of a human in the world and that a human should be aware of this. Well at least in my opinion. Also her performances channel the performer and work to make the artist and the audience aware of the space around them. Her work is also widely open to interpretation and is very exquisit.

Well the interpretation of that is pretty hard. The nudity of hers maybe says that the performer needs to be nude to be vulnerable to really experience the world. Well work it ad gag on the complexity of that performance. Also Gaga is steaming hot!  I also think that performing without spoken word is a thing reminding us that communication is more than words. Its sound and movement. Also Gaga has blended senses out, like her sense of sight. So she experiences the world differently. Come along Gaga and Abramovic also experiment with the notion of the sense of human life in the chair scene. For me it is very nihilistic.
Well lets come to the latest video of Abramovic promoting her institute. It features Lady Gaga as Gaga will feature Abramovic in the ARTPOP era. The video is called:

"Music Minute" - Aura/Burqa and the thing with Leaks...

As probably all the world already knows a song of Lady Gaga has been leaked onto the internet 2 days ago. The song is an early demo of the song Burqa: The leak has been confirmed as true, but the song is just an early demo. Thing is: Gaga has not started ramping all over the place in a roar, but has said that she would like to see all those links taken down. And that has happened somehow.

Well the thing with leaks is that they can not only cost the record company millions and prevent the artist from making money, but also they ruin our perception of music. When we wait for music we start to build up anticipation and all sorts off stuff like that. We exchange our expectations over the song or album. And by that we feel music way before we  can hear it. And a leak destroys that. Even though I am as excited as many others for new music I am strictly against a leak. Also the loss of money means that the artists can not put the money into their show, which also will lower the experience for the fans. The Burqa stuff has been introduced by Gaga via Twitter and during an appearance of her at the fashion show of Philip Tracey, when he returned to the fashion world. She performed at the show in a pink burqa, which you can see above. It s not the first time a burqa has been worn and or been used by a western pop star in a song or worn in public. It may be discussable that the burqa thing is controversial, and may not be good for the relations between the oriental and western world.

But enough of something moral, lets come to the lyrics of the leak. And no I won't give a link to the song anywhere or so, because I also want them all to be taken down. So lets get to it, shall we?

I killed my former friend,
left her in the trunk on highway 10.
Put the knife under the hood,
Send it straight to Hollywood.

I love it, seriously? It is amazing! And the oriental sound of the guitar in the beginning befits it perfectly. Okay when we go to the analysis the question of who is the "former Friend" occurs. Why did she have to die, who is she and why the fuck has this happened on the highway 10? Could also be that the friend is not a friend  but rater a former version of Gaga, which she killed in order to become the Gaga which will be the hybrid of pop and art. Well that is the ARTPOP era! And why should we send the knife to Hollywood? Well, in my opinion a knife, gaga from New York and sending it straight to Hollywood? Well, maybe it is an attack on the rotten Hollywood system.

I am not a wandering slave,
i am a woman of choice.
My veil is protection,
for the gorgeousness of my face.
You want to fancy me cause,
there's always one man to love.
But in the bedroom,
the size of them is more then enough.

The beat is sick! It is amazing! What is remarkable is that the orient sound mixes so well with the electronic sound. The lyrics are also very much a tae on the use and stuff of a burqa. She sings she is not a slave but more a woman by her own decision. Pretty much female empowerment or not? She sings that the veil of her burqa is the protection of her gorgeous face. So the burqa in this case is not the thing to keep women down, in the western sense, or better said in the sense of Lady Gaga, is rather more the thing of protection. Men want to fancy women, and there is always one man to love. And then she gets to the bedroom and says that their size, is more then enough. Well, its not all about the seize, or is it?

Do you wanna see me naked lover?
Do you wanna peak underneath the cover?
Do you wanna see the girl who live behind the aura,
behind the aura?
Do you wanna touch me cosmic lover,
do you wanna peak underneath the cover?
Do you wanna see the girl who lives behind the aura,
behind the aura, behind the aura, behind the aura.

A series of questions? Well lets see what is up with all that? Lets see! okay the first two questions are all about burqas and men seeing the women underneath them, and if I am not wrong burqa may have gotten some erotic features in this lines. And the third question is that perhaps the burqa is more than a cover up. It might be a peak behind a veil but also a peak into a persons soul. The next lines are relatively the same but only that the fist line is about the desire of a cosmic lover to touch her.

Enigma popstar is fun,
she wears burqa for fashion.
It's not a statement as much,
as just a move of passion.
I may not walk on your street,
or shoot a gun on your soil.
I hear you screaming,
it is because of pleasure and toil.

Okay, a reference to Enigma? That is some good stuff. Enigma is a symbol for decoding and encrypting something, and Lady Gaga loves it to be cryptic. And apparently Gaga enjoys it to be mysterious. And I can pretty much understand it, because being mysterious is fun. And Gaga wears a burqa for reasons of fashion and for the reason of being mysterious. So Gaga wears a burqa out of free choice! She then goes on that wearing a burqa is not a fashion choice but more a choice of passion. And maybe that passion is a move of compassion and a move towards women. She says she might not be on the streets of the country where women have to wear a burqa but she hears them screaming from work and pleasure.

What comes then is just 3 or 4 simple words: Dance, Sex, Art, Pop or ARTPOP, after that the refrain comes once more. And we are through. Well, my interpretation of all this is very much centered around the burqa, but thing is there sure are millions of other interpretations out there. And maybe I am totally wrong but  the song is great in it self. So I hope you enjoyed my little analysis.

"TV Series I am addicted to!" - Äkta Människor - Real Humans

The nordic european countries are known for apparently five things: (1) crazy language no matter if Swedish, Danish or Finnish, (2) good furniture made out of wood, or furniture from IKEA, (3) cold icy weather or lots of rain, (4) wonderful for skiing and last, but most important for this post (5) good crime, detective, murder and drama stories.

Picture and Copyrights belong to SVT TV.

Well crime and drama have always been a huge genre in human literature and performing arts. It seems as though Swedish people have mastered this. In most Swedish crime thrillers there is more murder then in Mexico City and the crimes I talk are not tax-crimes. I mean bloody murder!

The ability to make good TV has been proven by Swedish people all again now with the release of the science fiction drama series called "Äkta Människor" or for those of you who don't speak Swedish (Like me!) "Real Humans". At first the setting of "Real Humans" seems simple. The not so far future, probably in like 10 years, Sweden. Humanity has developed a technology that allows them to create robots that look like humans and act like them. Theses are called Hubots. Hubots basically are just like cars for humans, can work for them in factories, do dangerous jobs, take care of the elders and assist in offices. The thing with them is that there is, as always a downside. These robots are so human that they have caused quite some stir. Some love them, some hate their guts. Thing is that Hubots on the other hand are also abused. They are used as sex slaves and some are eve stolen and reprogrammed. Well, cars get stolen, so where is the line?

We have the classical situation of the golem problem as the series exposition. We create a creature, which is just like we are, and someday we might loose control about it. The series jumps right into the field with introducing us to a group of Robots who have broken their programming, or  have been reprogrammed, and have, now it comes, free will. Question: Are Hubots feeling creatures? Do they have rights, ore are they really just machines?

We have several story lines coming together here and there. At first we have the group of free Hubots, lead by a human called Leo. In the first episode one of the Hubots tells Leo that she loves him. This Hubot was hit by a car and can hardly move. Her name is Mimi. Mimi gets kidnapped and is sold to a Hubot reseller. She ends up in a nice family. This family provides the second story line. They rename Mimi Anita and have not bought her, but got her as an extra for the purchase of an elderly care Hubot for their grandfather. His Hubot, Odi, has been defect and needs to be replaced. The third big string evolves around Roger. Roger is a factory worker who is left by his girlfriend and her son, since he lost it and bet up their Hubot. Roger joins a political extremist group who wants Hubots to be forbidden, with arguments as that they steal workplaces and are not human at all.

So you see we have many different approaches to the human robot situation. All together many questions about consciousness, rights, moral, ethics, religion and personhood are asked. The series has this unique bright and clinic style that is so "nordic" in my perception, and befits the series very well. The makers/creators have the ability that in the series a Hubot doing the shopping for his owner is  exciting and also are able to creep you with the most normal scenes. A great eye catcher, with deep meaning, amazing visuals, great concept and overall extremely good actors. Only remark on the side: Real Humans will probably not be a hit for the mainstream since it is not as attracting as other series. Check out the trailer below and buy that DVD box of season 1! I did so, and my expectations were more then fulfilled.

"I watch it, so should you!" - True Blood "Dead Meat"

I know I have fangirled more over this True Blood season than a 14 year old about this closeted lesbian named Justin Bieber. Yeah. So that much for those of you who cant take it anymore, but I am going to write about the eighth episode of the sixth season called "Dead Meat".

And thereby I 'd like to give out some awards to the characters, since I feel that this season has put my head near to an explosion, in a positive way. Well lets start with what went down in this episode. Well the most surprising thing is that Alcide and Sam have not bored me to death but also have really worked it out to get me interested once more into their story lines! And even better, with Sam having knocked up Nicole like 12 days after they met, the story gets more confusing! So the Icon Art award for "Finally getting interesting" goes to them.

Okay and the real deal this episode for me was Sarah Newlin! And I'm not saying she could also be called Sarah Palin, but she could. Bitch is crazy! When she had that fight with the CEO of TruBlood, Mrs. Suzuki, my facial expression was between WTF and I Love it! And only Sarah Newlin can pull it off to thank Jesus after killing Mrs. Suzuki with a fabulous high heel shoe. Well bitch is crazy! And you know what? She so earned the Icon Art award for "Motherfucking Crazy Ass Bitch!". And alongside that the award for "I Hate That Bitch" goes to the vampire who has claimed Jason hers. I kinda wanna know how old she is, because with Pam in gen-pop things could turn. And how she got in there? Well she fucked the psychologist and says the sex was "oozy, but productive". Well the award for "Whore of the Century" goes to Pamela "Fuckalot/Fuckenstein" Swynford de Beaufort. and you know Pam is m favorite character. But seriously, Pam is about 180 years old, and very talented as a vampire. (Remember, she can already fly at such young vampire age?) How old can that other bitch be, that Pam can't fuck her up?

When it comes to Eric and dealing with his anger over the death of Nora I kinda feel his outbreak at the beginning of the episode could have been bigger. I mean I love it, but somehow I expected him to totally loose it and really attacking Bill. But somehow he just looses it mentally, and after Bill levitating him, and Eric making fun of him in a brilliant way, he leaves Bill's mansion. Okay Eric you definitely earned the Icon Art award for "Extremely Complex Character" when Bill needs to receive the award for "Turning One-Dimensional". But Eric feeding on the remaining daughter of Terry to get into the fairy realm was pretty bad ass. But I kinda did not get why he attacked Warlow. #SorryBoutIt

What I was most surprised of was Sookie. When she went to Sam to, I don't know, ad telling him about winding up together, I was really like WTF! But when she stand in front of her parents graves and tells them she'd rather walk the earth as s corpse, then laying besides them for eternity. Wow, finally Sookie makes some good decisions. If Warlow, or any other of these Vampires, wanted to turn me.. well here is my wrist. take a bite and dig me in bitches! Also her wearing that black dress, that hair and that attitude: WOW! This time Sookie gets the Icon Award for "Finally getting things in order!". So in the end we are left hanging, I mean the makers of True Blood really know how to pull a good cliffhanger, with Sookie bringing Bill to the fairy realm discovering Warlow has been attacked by Eric. And shit seems too be going down since he looks kind of dead. Well, the whole episode gave us much, but basically it is just a huge cliffhanger since they bring the story further but leave us standing in the rain. It will be hard to wait seven fucking days

"Born naked, the rest is drag!" - Jinkx Monsoon

Yes, I have to admit that I have horribly neglected this part of my blog, so may the drag goddesses forgive me! But I will try to redeem myself from that and give you a glimpse why I think that Jinkx Monsoon is one of my favorites! Get your swim vests out: Its Monsoon season!

Picture by Tim Evanson. From Wikimedia Commons.

First and foremost you should all bow down to Miss Monsoon since she is Drag Race Royalty! Yes, lil Jinkx (As Roxxxy Andrews has once put it.), has won the fifth season of RuPauls Drag Race and has beaten many fierce competitors, such as Detox Icunt and Alaska Thunderfuck. And that must have been hard work! Anyways: If she is not in drag Jinkx goes by the name of Jerick Hoffer. And damn i got to say that I love both of them. Jinkx is classically trained and has finished college with a summa cum laude in theater. Wow that is pretty impressive!

Jinkx is really into her craft and a trained, talented and skilled actress! Several times she has proven to be a skilled entertainer and also a funny and witty comedy queen, who in my eye represents glamour in a way I have never seen it before done by a drag queen. She represents the style of the 50's and 60's with a little mash up of the 20's. And I think that role befits her very well.

What is interesting to know about Jinkx is that she has narcolepsy. So there comes her nickname: the silent sleeper from Seattle. And she aligns herself as Seattle's youngest MILF. Besides kicking ass in the Snatch Game, her funny mantra "Water off a ducks back." and her great humor ("It's gonna be hard to top Coco. But look at her, who would want to top that?") she has won the fifth season of RuPauls Drag Race and snatched the crown.

After her heroic triumph she has started a web series called "Drag Becomes Him" where the life of Jinkx in and out of Drag is shown. And I gotta tell you that this series has some thing that makes it so great! Can I give it an Emmy? If you haven't seen it check it out below!

So you see there are tons of reasons to love Miss Jinkx. And since she has gotten the stamp of approval by Joan Rivers, we can be sure she is drag and comedy gold! A true diva!
