Icons are everywhere!

An icon is someone who makes an effort. Art makes an effort. Therefore art is an icon. Marilyn Monroe was and is an icon and a work of art as well. Hence Marilyn Monroe and art have a nature in common. Icon - Art - Marilyn is iconic.

Fiere Raven Ice Queen - Transformations by Dita Whip

Hey there! After yesterdays break I got yet another Transformations for you in cooperation with Dita Whip. Yet this one is dry special to me as I was able to secure Gil (Remember her from her Versace and Pop Art Transformation) as the photographer. And her camera is a good one.

A fierce beauty to discover the wild.

The volunteer this time was Anna, a friend of Gil's who was visiting us in Chester. So let me hand over to Dita to give you all the details on the look.

An icy queen can always seduce one with a smile.

Okay ladies, gentlemen and everything in between. This look, as the title already gives away, aims at a really cold, strong and darkly fierce attitude with lots of sassy power. This is not "sissying" a walk, this is dominating the runway! The make up in general started out with foundation and lots and lots of clown white. After I mixed these two in and given Anna's face cold look I added some bronzer to give depth to her face, however just a little bit. Then the actual make-up part took place.

Sleeping Beauty.

I started out shaping the triangle part around the eyes and filling in the lid black. After this way done I took to newspaper and cut some triangular pieces out. I then glued them into the before shaped triangles on Anna's forehead. After that I filled in the triangles with black and let it dry. Afterwards I added blue glitter to the eye make up and completed the eyes with under eye lines. Annas lips were filled with a mixture of lip tar and blue glitter and finally adding some of the glitter to highlight Anna's check bones. The hair was simply combed back and was whitened by using white powder and white hair color.

Her eyes are so vividly alive. They shine with fierceness.

Afterwards I slapped lots and lots of silver necklaces onto Anna's neck and we took to the garden to take these amazing pictures. I had lots of fun working with Anna on the make up and Gil had lots of fun to work with Anna in front of the camera. And the results speak for themselves.

Staring daggers. Terrifc.

The flow of glitter was perfectly caught by Gil and her camera. Fierce beauty.

What If Charlie Chaplin was female and loved glitter? - Transformations

Hello there art fans, photography enthusiasts and make up fanatics! It is time for another round of "Transformations" in cooperation with the fabulous Dita Whip. Our lovely volunteer this time: Lisa.

Now it is time to hand over to Dita: The look I and Lisa were going for with this transformation in the first place was to make it an extravaganza of glitter. Really over the top and already Capitol like from the Hunger Games. Ridiculously fabulous you may say. However, when taking the pictures we reversed more and more towards poses that rather resembled old Hollywood glamour meets humor. And as we finally added a hat and pearls the decision was kind of made in the progress that this futuristic over the top look we were going for was not what came out.

In the process I as well had my hard time to put the glitter on. It was one of the first times I worked with the material, however yet it is an integral part of my make up. But a big thanks to Lisa for enduring the procedure. Yet I am extremely happy with the outcome of the pictures. They might not be perfect, and the make up might not be as flawless as wished for, however it really shows what a beauty Lisa is, with and without make up.

The picture have been taken in February, and since then I was really able to work on my craft, however the pictures remain amazing. Finally I asked Lisa to frame the experience in her own words. This is how she felt about the process:

The first minute, I saw my friend Lisa’s pictures as the one and only Sexcretary, I simply couldn’t believe my own eyes! This transformation (and of course all the other transformation Dita Whip created) was totally awesome and I instantly knew: I just had to become a part of it!

So I literally begged Lisa to ask Dita, if she could also work her magic on me. And as you can see my begging was totally worth it! During my first night in Great Britain, she transformed me into a gorgeous glitter-amazon and made me feel like a real mermaid princess…. Even considering it being a hard way to go before I finally became this awesome new me - I never thought that I needed strong duct tape to keep away my own hair (argh…it really hurts when you take it off at the end!) as well as tones of hairspray to glue glitter on my face (memo to myself: never ever get hairspray in my eyes again) - as I’ve mentioned before: it was totally worth it! ;)

Getting to the moment of the photoshoot, I thought for the first moment that a stranger is looking at me. But after a while this strange new person surprisingly became a new and exciting part of me and we started to perform like crazy!

Finally, when Dita told me that my photoshoot has to come to an end, I really felt sad that I have to lose all my make-up and return to my old me?! But I still think that this gorgeous glitter mermaid princess and I will at some point in the future meet again... at least I hope so! And for now I’ve got all those incredible memories…

Fierce Dark Eyes - Transformations - 2nd Cycle

Hey there again! This February Icon Art Marilyn ran the "Transfromations" project to celebrate its one year anniversary, and after a bit of a hiatus the project is back on its second cycle. Once more in combination with Dita Whip!

This time the look we were going for was a dark eye, gorgeous red lips and a very light, white skin to counter the dark eye. The look started off with a light foundation and lots of highlighting. Afterwards contouring was added before the powder. For the eyes I uses Berry M's black glitter eyeshadow and some simple clown white blended in together. To finish the eyes of white was added to the water line and a visible black lower eyeliner. To finish off the look the lips were covered with dark red lipstick and a bit of glitter. Then Nena, my lovely volunteer, had fun with the pictures. And she is a stunning beauty rocking different wigs as well as my top hat with the signature "D". Give her some applause!

These two pictures give you a dark side as well as a golden twenties take on big hair with some ombre in it. Besides the dark energy the fist picture has its is very interesting how the shadow plays along. Same goes with the second picture. Both my favorites.

"Transformations" - Gothic Princess Realness

Hey Darlings! Its Dita here! Today it is time for the third edition of "Transformations" bringing to you Gothic Princess Realness with my lovely volunteer Laura!

This look is a very pale one. I urged to use as many black features as possible to really lay emphasis on the pale nature of the look to create a Gothic effect. The overall attitude is a mixture between aggressive beauty and glamorous confidence. Using Laura's face structures I as well tried to give elegance to such an unnatural whiteness and widened her chin optically to add depth to the face. The look exuded underground couture meets Halloween chique.

Whilst still pretty simple I this time was going for a very unnatural look that's screamed for black eyebrows and thick eye lines. After highlighting and contouring, as well as some more white as usual I as well added much red blush to get the effect of a porcelain puppet. In addition to that the blue eyeshadow adds some color, but in a rather cold way. The thick and long overdrawn eyeliner raises the eye optically and triangle ornaments add to the "subculture" attire and Gothic elegance of this look.

And as usual I asked the volunteer to frame their impressions of themselves in a couple of words. Here is how Laura perceived her transformation:

When Dita told me that she was going to do my make-up I was excited at first but then, after some time, I gradually became more and more scared of the whole thing! If I tell you that usually I just wear eye liner and mascara on a daily basis you can probably begin to understand how daunting “At least two hours of makeup, darling!” began to sound to me! Having said this, when it really came down to it (And I was placed inside a bin bag to protect my clothes from the fallout of powder and eyeshadow!) it felt amazing. Honestly, I felt so pampered having someone spending so much time working on my face, not to mention my hair and chest! (I never thought so much time could be spent painting my chest.) So gradually, in an overall of three hours that Dita spent, she lovingly (and sometimes a little forcefully) transformed me into what she envisioned. I started to feel like somewhat of a model. So then it was done… I was finished and no one could have prepared me for what happened next. But first I'll start with how it made me feel when it was all done. At first I didn’t even recognize my face, and when answering the door to one of my closest friends they didn’t even recognize me either, so I’m sure you can again begin to understand the dramatic level to which I had been changed… and this wasn’t just in looks. It’s hard to explain to you what all this time and effort can do in your mind, the character you’re painted slowly begins to become you. So just now I start to understand people who wear so much makeup on a daily basis and I have an idea of how it changes how they behave and feel. So now let me get to the scary part of the “Transformations” project that I hadn’t even considered while being made over…. The photos!!!!! Now this is where you have to take your newly acquired character to the next level, testing every bit of your new found confidence! So I’m sure you’re not surprised that I took a quite a bit of time getting into this, but after spending some time in front of the camera, with various different props, I finial truly BECAME my new character.

And so you can see for yourself how big of a transformation this was here is a half and half picture. That's it for today! See you soon, Dita XOXO

"Transformations" - Starring: The Bird Queen

Hey there, its Dita again! have you missed me? And even more importantly: have you found time to like me on Facebook? But back to business: Today it is time to reveal the first "Tranformations".

The lovely and fierce Franziska has the honor to start the bunch off with her transformation into what I call "The Bird Queen". Her look is very sharp, smart and elegant, whilst it exhales a certain level of bitchiness and high level of confidence mixed with a spoon full of powerful aggression. For me it stands for a powerful, in charge, smart and focused woman. #ExecutiveRealness

The idea behind her transformation was to keep the overall look quite clean even though the whole composition still should look very elaborate and thought through. The basic idea was to combine simple black Parisian chic with evil queen realness and add sharpness to give it the little something extra. The basics are, as they will be with every transformation, foundation, highlighting and contouring and some blush. For this looks I decided to keep the color pallet pretty unused and just rush for some green eyeshadow and add some glittery grey to it. The eyebrows were darkened a bit, and I set a white highlight underneath their ends. A thick and very long, Dita signature, eyeliner with an on eyelid extension and heavy mascara conclude the eye make up. The look is completed by black lips and the hairs combed back, roots darkened with mascara and the whole thing fixated with some hairspray.  The transformation as a whole process took about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

I asked Franzy as well to describe how she felt throughout the whole transformation. And here is what she had to say:

Being transformed by Dita Whip was a drastic experience in every possible way. Since I am only used to very little make-up, I was really surprised when Dita told me, that it would take over an hour to do my make-up. I slowly started to realize, what was about to happen, when Dita arranged all her foundations, powder, lipsticks, eyeshadow, ….it just did not stop.  While being painted/made-up, it felt as if my skin would slowly be forced to stop breathing. Especially after Dita painted the enormous eyeliner on my eyelid, my eyes were hardly able to open normally. But what do you expect of blow-dried eyelids...*(Dita: Its liquid eyeliner, and a blow-dryer is much faster then just air!) When Dita was finished, I knew why it took so long and why such an big effort was put into it: My face did not feel like mine anymore, nor did it look like it. With tons of foundation and extreme contours, my normal facial expression was completely different. When posing for the pictures, I at first felt pretty uncomfortable, since I could not predict how my face would look like anymore. It felt like years of learning how to pose for a photo was suddenly completely in vain! With the tough facial contours I was given, it seemed ridiculous to laugh, something I would normally do when pictures were being taken of me. Most remarkable was however, that after about a minute, I slowly got used not only to my new face, but also to the role, I was just given by Dita. And all of a sudden, I was simply enjoying the newly obtained freedom!

And finally you can judge for yourself how big the transformation was by having a look at this picture, showing Franzy half with make up, half without.

That's it for now, see you tomorrow!

XOXO, Dita!

"I Love Art" - Disney... fucked up. Kind of.

These ladies might be directly from the teen toon happy town of the Disney world, but I have taken them and given them a bit of a makeover. Because in my perception Disney is in desperate need of a makeover.

Away with those stereotypical roles and in with the Disney heroines of 2013.Its about time that these princesses take their high heels, get tattooed and stick their middle finger right into their prince, hunters, bad witches and stepmothers face. Feminism in a sexy-chique version of go-go, burlesque an tattoo style.

Alice aka. The Demanding Diva

I mean, havent we all wondered sometimes where our freaking rabbit is? Because we are truely majestic! (And in case not, i can assure you that you are not a bitchy and demanding diva.)

Arielle aka. The Punk Girl

This one is all about  her favorite bad ass lesbian rock band and will let you know all about it. Who says raunchy rock attitude has to be butch?

Daisy aka. The Luxurious Lady

Face! Face! Face! Serving us upper class rich power Lady in a sexy and tight dress, Daisy gives us everything! Executive bitchy realness, hunty!

Minnie aka. MinnieSKIRT

It will always be forever 21 for Minnie, but definitely not in pink. And if Mickey has fucked up once again, she is not sitting at home crying about it, rather she is out at the bar with her girlfriends and going wild!
