Today has been the day that the reigning queen of pop, Lady Gaga, has released the music video for her first single off her third studio album ARTPOP. The single Applause was released early last week due to hackers and leaks, and has since been compared to Katy Perry's "Roar". But when Gaga entered Times Square in a black convertible with red leather seats to go onto Good Morning America it was clear that at this day Katy perry would play no role.
When Gaga entered the studio she wore a stunning white dress, short brown or brunette hair and metallic high heel boots. In an interview before the music video premier she declared that the video will feature many images of her, all versions of herself. She also stated that the video was paying homage to her obsession with transforming herself. The video is a mixture of Tim Burton meets Alice in Wonderland meets Circus meets vampires and angels meets fashion and disco. Tons of outfits, flashing lights and a dance routine that seeks out for competition. An absolute complex, stunning and amazing pop music video that says one thing: art. It really is a video about obsession, rage, love, dance and art in combination with pop. A true iconographic piece that will go down in music history, at least it should! But don't believe just me, go an check out my arguments below!
For those of you who haven't seen the video yet, and can not watch it on Youtube due to Vevo, just head over to Ampya and watch it there! So I think we should get right to it, and analyze it in every frame! Lets dive in:

I absolutely love the writing! Can not wait to see more of it. What we can see of the scenery just gives me the chills. Very central, very power oriented and absolutely Metropolis meets horror. The stage is like a circus arena curtain that opens. I love it to death!
Gaga mattress. And her body is banging! I mean seriously there hasn't been anything that hot since the last supernova! Her shoes are a high-heeled killer boot that makes my hear for fashion go pitter-patter.
Gaga on a podium, with wings. Wait wings? Yes! Wings! And for me they look like the wings of death. She is flying over the podium and giving me further reasons to fangurrl!

Okay, the Lady is giving us face! And what a beautiful one! Also the make-up is apparently down to a minimum. What a natural beauty! Whoever calls that ugly needs new eyes!
Okay someone must have introduced Lady Gaga and the Mad Hatter. I mean seriously! The reference here could not be more obvious. Even the signature "Lady Gaga" appears on the hat. The outfit: Sorry but I am not a fan. The hair actually looks like its Kreayshawn's. But the idea of Gaga jumping out of the hat as a surprise. Well, that allegory is true!
Girl giving us face again! FACE, FACE & FACE!
Okay, the yellow wig for me screams Monster Ball. And yellow could be seen as a criticism of blonde which is fake, and by making it yellow she over expresses and ironizes it to criticize the fake nature of beauty. I think its brilliant. other ways she also reminds us that the Fame Monster era is not really dead, and might come back, come back as a fashion Marie Antoinette zombie as she is in this frame.
Cruella DeVille meets clown, meets ballet dancer meets Black Swan. But in a Gaga way, of course!
So we finally see where the Applause cover comes from!
Okay now I am reminded of a circus freak show, since she caught that knife with her mouth and teeth. And to be honest: It is weird, but I love it,. That will take some time to figure out!
After giving us great head, uhm I meant face, our girl gives us body. And may I say: damn! Every woman is jealous right now!
Angel of Death Gaga is back, or might she be the Angel of Art? I guess so!
Gaga then decides to get out of her hat. And boy: she has grown a unicorn tail! What a nice reminder of Born This Way! A unicorn on the road of love!
Okay: a darker version of the Applause make-up. Also multiple Gaga's. I would suggest an artistic development and also a display of identity facets. Aslo a reminder of her WWD interview: "I am every Icon!"
Okay the classical venus in a shell but this time not hiding her private parts but covering them up with shells and striking a god-like pose. Very ancient greek, warrior like. Full of power and rejecting the claws around her. Fierce female force!
Time for some dancing that is, as i may say so, sickening as fuck! It literally is so twisted an sexy! By the way: that bra made out of hands that hold her breasts deserves its own two pages spread in a fashion magazine! Amazing! Maybe a reminder of the unattainable standards fashion and beauty industry put on women, like bigger breasts?
Gaga literally as a black swan in a furry egg. Okay this might be a play on the vessel from her Grammy performance of Born This Way. But also: It is twisted! Seriously I don't have any concrete idea. maybe that a swan can turn from white to black rejecting normal values and moral? But we have to give her that that certainly is a WTF moment that will be remembered! From Latey Gaga to Swan Gaga! What a jump!
Shake ya boody! Some great dancing, I mean who could hold his or hers feet still listening to that song?
Okay the we have full overload! We have Gaga in a lavender purple outfit carrying a huge vase of flowers in a gigantic purple light tunnel with tons of glittery confetti. That is what I call a pop bomb. Maybe the ARTPOP birth canal, maybe not. I don't know, and I don't care, but I love it!
And then last, but not least, we have Gaga acting out the word ARTPOP with her hands. Like!
