Icons are everywhere!

An icon is someone who makes an effort. Art makes an effort. Therefore art is an icon. Marilyn Monroe was and is an icon and a work of art as well. Hence Marilyn Monroe and art have a nature in common. Icon - Art - Marilyn is iconic.

"I watch it, so should you!" - Samantha - Feminist(?) - Jones Part 2

Great that you have checked back here for the conclusion of "Samantha - Feminist(?) - Jones"! In the first part of this "I watch it, so should you!" you got an overview about who Samantha Jones is and what her life in a short cut is like. Also I have schooled you about what feminism really is. You hopefully still know what these three waves have been about. Okay, so we will get started:

The third wave of feminism is all about decision making. So lets play the game of "Give me the stereotypes!" In this game I will give you the stereotypical, if forced horribly wrong, picture of what the stupid parts of society think a woman is supposed to be. She has to have children and raise them, get married before 30, be loyal to her husband,  keep up the house, eventually have a job, cook and bake, wash and steam iron, support her family and sacrifice her own luck for the families. So basically she should be a wife, mother, worker, housewife, partner in life and supporter at once. Pretty much a very conservative picture of a woman, not to say a horrible picture. From this point of view she could even be an Amish woman. (#SorryNotSorry about the Amish comment!)

So we take Samantha Jones: She is the complete opposite. Not marries, over 40, has fun with shopping, enjoys having sex with a multitude of partners, not in want of a husband, not that much into cooking and doing housework not even to mention children which she can not stand. You might want to call her a "sex obsessed, Gucci buying whore, who should get a fucking life, instead of living such a crazy ass lifestyle out of any social norm". Well you certainly could do that, but you would be horribly wrong by doing so. Because that is what life for women since the third wave of feminism is all about: choice. During the series Samantha repeatedly explains that she has no desire to be like the stereotype of woman that I have described to you above. Which means that this sort of lifestyle is a choice for her. just like if a woman explicitly decides to life this stereotypical life I have described. But who says that Samantha Jones way of living her life is less valuable than any other? This comes up to the question  of decision, and who says that the single woman, without a child and husband is less valuable than another woman!

So for me Samantha is not a true feminist, because she describes that she has decided on her own what her life is, but she is a feminist in that point that she is outspoken for her rights and that her decisions are her life and that she is proud of it. So, yes, in some ways Samantha Jones is a feminist of the third wave. And what would she have to say about third wave feminism:
