It has been like ages since i went to the most amazing show i have ever been in my whole life: The Born This Way Ball Tour - starring Lady Gaga. On the 24th of September me and a good friend of mine, got our asses into my car, drove to Hanover and had the time of our life at the Born This Way Ball. Why i just post that so late? Well, today at about 20.00 a very good friend of mine, her best friend and me will be in Leipzig and listen to the incredible P!nk on her funhouse tour! And as a warm up for you all, to get the concert feeling, i will write about my Born This Way Ball experience.
Lets diver right in with the ticket: If a ticket looks fucked up it means it was a great concert! Ad my ticket has seen more action than a hooker at a republican convention! So it was fucking awesome.And the show was absolutely amazing! Also the pre show stuff my friend Johanna and I did was so funny! So here we got a picture of her putting on her slutty Make-Up, and us posing in front of the photo wall! And by the way: This is my 100th post on this blog! So wohoooo!
To give you any idea of what the show is about i will give you a short summary of what the story of the Ball is. Lady Gaga has landed on earth as a creature of art. She has escaped the Kingdom of Fame and tries to land in earth as our pop star, and extract as much creativity from GOAT (Government Owned Alien Territory) as possible. The storyteller of the concert is a mask called Mother GOAT which flies over the stage and explains that Lady Gaga is a fugitive and needs to be stopped: Operation "Kill the Bitch" begins.In the end Gaga defeats Mother GOAT and lands on earth to give an encore performance of "The Edge Of Glory" and "Marry the Night". All of this is surrounded b the constant message of creative self creating, fighting against struggles, the message of full equality for everyone, gay pride and the story that, if you work hard enough, you can overcome any obstacle and be whoever it is that you want to be. Its like a gigantic mixture of: Alice in Wonderland meets The Wizard of Oz mating with the gay pride parade, Andy Warhol, Pop Culture of all kinds, ridiculousness and an amazing creative mind behind this. A surreal, artificial construct with a loose story that tries to make everyone happy and self-confident and the world a better place.. at least for one evening. Is is it crazy and over the top? Yeas, it is But Gaga is at her best if she is over the top and too much. At the end of the evening it does not matter that this amazing spectacle is artificial, since its not its purpose to be surreal but rather more to function as a creative utopian space of equality and idolization for a better world. And that is just possible due to Gaga's amazing abilities as a performance artist. That her voice is absolutely flawless steps back for the moment. But she proves that it is in the middle of the concert.
So here is the concert footage and my impressions of it. But sadly i was not able to cover the whole concert because i was (A) having the best time ever and (B) the battery of my camera decided to loose its power after half of the show.
So here you can see the stage: It is a huge castle and as you can see the arena was packed with people! The Born This WaY Ball was about to start! At this point I already wet my pants due to excitement ;).
Welcome to GOAT: a Government Owned Alien Territory. The show begins as the lights turn out and purple and blue laser lights announce the arrival of the worlds biggest pop start today: Lady Gaga. To the shivering beats of "Highway Unicorn / Road to Love" the arena goes crazy, or better said GuGu for Gaga!
And if your name is Lady Gaga you enter the arena on, of course, a mechanical unicorn, in an Armani Prive costume, surrounded by dancers dressed as guards.
And of course there is reference to Marilyn Monroe and JFK, as well as a reference to Bill Clinton and Monika.... but ways more sexy and Gaga!
For Born This Way Gaga emerges from a gigantic Vagina, and gives birth to herself. She declares that she is not a prisoner, and that she wont be defined by anyone. She is her fans and they have created her. Normally seen this is pretty much weird but from some academic point of view she is right!

Gaga performing "Fashion of his Love" in yet another amazing, but creepy outfit. Oh and the castle has broken a bit to give us a view at Gaga's throne.
That bitch is working the runway like no one else! Supermodels of the world: Look here to know how to do it right! And she is only 1,65m or so!
Gaga performing Bloody Mary. The clue to this performance: Gaga and her dancers don't walk. The are standing on robots that automatically drive on stage. She stands there and gives a statuesque performance of the song. So Warhol!
Here we got Mother GOAT a bionic creature in a prism flying over the stage and telling the story of GOAT, the Kingdom of Fame and how Lady Gaga is a fugitive.

And of course the castle also contains an apartment filled with some clothes, a picture of Joe Calderone and a bottle of Gaga's perfume FAME.
Emerging form under the stage as a version of the Statue of Liberty in a glass bath tub? Pretty normal for Gaga performing telephone and Love Game.
Performing Electric Chapel, playing guitar and ricking the stage: Gaga and 2 guitar players.
Performing Americano in a meat dress, alongside meat pieces.
Well, after i have posted like tons of photos i have to say that at this point my camera went off. So what you haven't seen yet are Gaga as a motorcycle performing "Heavy Metal Lover", Gaga playing piano with a fan on stage and singing "Princess Die" and "You and I", Gaga performing "Poker Face" in a Louis Vuitton meat grinder, Gaga performing "Alejandro" with a machine gun bra on a meat sofa, Gaga performing "Paparazzi" and shooting Mother GOAT, Gaga performing "Scheiße" and the encore of "The Edge of Glory " and "Marry the NIght" with letting fans on stage and a monologue.
Tis was a 2 1/2 hour show with more than 15 costumes (I thin it was nearly 20 costumes) great performances, fans on stage and Gaga at her best!
